NEW YORK
(October 9, 2017) – Major League Soccer today announced that FS1 and FOX Deportes will carry 4-1/2 hours of action-packed MLS Soccer Sunday coverage on October 15, as flex scheduling during the penultimate week of the regular season allows partners to select the most compelling matchups seeding the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Consisting of simultaneous matchups in each conference and one East-versus-West showdown, coverage of the Week 32 doubleheader will reach more than 170 countries worldwide.
Beginning at 5 p.m. ET
, an all-Eastern Conference window opens with five concurrent matchups before the action continues
at 7:30 p.m. ET
with five Western Conference games and one interconference matchup – all kicking off at the same time. FOX Sports has selected a key matchup of focus in each conference, and will incorporate a live studio show with hosts Rob Stone and Alexi Lalas providing up-to-the minute highlights and live look-ins during the most captivating moments around the league.
Kicking off
at 5 p.m. ET
, all eyes will be squarely on the Eastern Conference, when No. 3 Atlanta United (15-9-8) play host to the No. 6 New York Red Bulls (12-12-7) with major postseason implications on the line. Bradley Wright-Phillips and the Red Bulls are holding strong in the sixth and final playoff position, but the stakes will be high against an explosive Atlanta United team which will feature Venezuelan international and Golden Boot contender Josef Martinez, who leads all MLS players with the season’s highest goals-per-game average. Martinez also has three hat tricks to his credit, including two scored in consecutive games. With Atlanta jockeying for a second-place conference finish and a first-round playoff bye, the Red Bulls could have newfound momentum in 18-year-old Tyler Adams, who is turning heads after his two goals and three assists in three games helped clinch the sixth and final postseason spot in the East.
Shifting the focus to the wide-open Western Conference at 7:30 p.m. ET, FS1 and FOX Deportes will shine a spotlight on No. 4 Seattle Sounders FC (12-9-11) taking on No. 8 FC Dallas (10-9-12). The defending MLS Cup champion Sounders FC are well within reach of clinching a berth to the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs, but will be leaning on the finishing of U.S. National Team forward Clint Dempsey and his 12 goals to get past an FC Dallas side, which is clawing its way to remain in the playoff hunt.
In addition to the in-game and in-studio broadcast coverage, FOX Sports presents a special digital whiparound show on FOX Soccer’s social media platforms (
Facebook
 /
FOX Sports Go
), where Rachel Bonnetta will navigate from game-to-game, highlighting the most defining moments as they happen in real time. Whiparound coverage will begin at 5:15 p.m. ET during the five Eastern Conference games before returning at 7:45 p.m. ET for the second slate of five simultaneous Western Conference games and one East-versus-West matchup.
On both sides of the FOX Sports coverage, MLS will provide in-depth analysis during “The Countdown to Decision Day presented by AT&T,” an interactive digital show, which will be hosted on
MLSsoccer.com
and MLS social media platforms (
