Major League Soccer and SeatGeek have expanded their partnership to include SeatGeek's sponsorship of the league's National Sales Center, giving the company a significant role in training ticketing sales staff around the league.

The facility in Blaine, Minn., will now be called the MLS National Sales Center Powered by SeatGeek. It offers a selective four-month ticket sales program for MLS account executives, training them on ticket sales methods, and over the past six years has trained more than 200 account executives around MLS.

“We’re at a real point of change in this industry, with the advent of all sorts of new technologies, social selling, and so forth," said Jeff Ianello, SeatGeek executive vice president of client partnerships, "and this project allows us to really get in at that training level, and help bring about change in the industry for the better.”

The expansion, announced Monday, builds upon a the two sides' existing partnership to create an open ticket distribution platform and was discussed during the negotiation process for that initial agreement.
