Colorado Rapids 0, San Jose Earthquakes 0 | 2016 MLS Match Recap

There was nothing separating the Colorado Rapids and San Jose Earthquakes Saturday night, as the two teams on opposite ends of the Western Conference standings battled to a 0-0 draw.

On the night, the Quakes will go down as the aggressor, as Tim Howard's brilliant kick save just before halftime stopped what was the best scoring opportunity for either side. The Rapids had trouble figuring out the offside trap, and otherwise had difficulty in the attack.

Three Things

WHAT'S YOUR DAMAGE, HEATHER?

  • SUCH A PILLOWCASE: San Jose came into Saturday night's match averaging just 3.6 shots-on-target each game this season, which according to Opta is the lowest mark of any MLS team in 2016. They came up short on Saturday, only getting three on-target, although that was better than the two managed by the Rapids.

  • TIM HOWARD IS GOOD: Now at 11 games since returning to MLS, Tim Howard has kept a clean sheet in six of them. That .545 clean sheet percentage is good for best in MLS amongst keepers with at least five starts.
