After weeks of rumors and reports, the Houston Dynamo made their acquisition of Costa Rican defender Keyner Brown official on Wednesday.

The Dynamo announced on Wednesday evening that they had signed Brown on loan from Costa Rican side Herediano. The deal for the 24-year-old center back comes with an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the year, and he will occupy an international roster spot.

“Keyner is a young, athletic defender whose physical presence will be a welcomed addition to our backline,” Dynamo VP/general manager Matt Jordan said in a statement released by the club. “We look forward to him integrating into our group as we push into the second half of the season.”

Brown has made 168 appearances in the Costa Rican first division, including 44 during the 2015-16 season with Herediano. The 6-foot-1 defender, who has earned two caps with Costa Rica, helped the club win two league titles.

He is Houston's fourth acquisition during the summer transfer window, following the additions Jose Escalante, Yair Arboleda, and Eric Alexander.
