FC Dallas extended their league winning streak to three games, after defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 at Avaya Stadium on Friday.
The loss puts the Quakes' winless run in league play at seven games, and is their first loss at Avaya this season, while Dallas add to their lead atop the Supporters' Shield standings.
Dallas notched the game's lone goal shortly after halftime. Michael Barrios sent a centering pass across the box that was blocked by Marvell Wynne, but the clearance looped up in the air, and Maxi Urruti produced an acrobatic bicycle kick finish to get the ball in the net.

- DALLAS BUILDING CASE FOR SHIELD: FC Dallas entered the season as one of the Supporters' Shield favorites, after missing out on the title last year by the narrowest of margins. After surprise teams like Colorado, Philadelphia and most recently New York City have played their way to the top of the standings, attention went off the Texas club for a time. But with Mauro Diaz in form again, Matt Hedges back in action, and goals capable of coming from a variety of players, Dallas look like legit Supporters' Shield candidates once more.
- QUAKES' SKID CONTINUES: Despite notching another loss, it wasn't a hopeless performance for the hosts. Both teams had shots clang off the posts, and Chris Seitz had a couple of big saves to keep San Jose off the board. Matias Perez Garcia came off the bench in the second half, and provided a spark, even if they still couldn't find an equalizer. But the result is a tough one for the Earthquakes, who are sliding down the Western Conference standings, and are nearly out of the chasing pack for the playoffs. Obviously, one win can make a big difference, but San Jose look like they need one very soon.
- #DALLASSTRONG: Before the game, both teams came together, all wearing "Don't Cross the Line" T-shirts, and posed in front of signs that said #DallasStrong, in light of the shootings on Thursday in Dallas.
