The opening game of Saturday's slate featured a wild round of "Can You Top This?" between New England Revolution striker Kei Kamara and Montreal Impact rookie Michael Salazar.
Kamara finally broke through for the Revs in the 18th minute of game No. 6 with New England, stutter-stepping his way to a perfectly timed run for goal No. 1:
He followed that up in the 33rd with a set piece conversion, redirecting Chris Tierney's corner kick past Impact 'keeper Evan Bush for his seventh goal on the season. But the 2-0 lead wasn't to last.
Just seven minutes later, Salazar pounced on a loose ball in front of the Revolution net, soaring for a clean header to put the Impact on the board as his duck broke. Drafted in the Second Round of this year's MLS SuperDraft (No. 24 overall), Salazar was making his first start in this sixth appearance for Montreal.
Hey, you can only score the goals you get the chance to strike, right? Just in case anyone thought that was more lucky than skilled on that first one, Salazar followed up just after the half with this equalizer:
Kamara's brace neutralized, Nacho Piatti was able to put things away from the spot in the 54th, and Montreal put the full three points on the board to climb to second in the East – pending the outcome of Sunday's #NYderby
