Moment of silence in 49th minute in Orlando to honor shooting victims

Saturday night’s match between Orlando City and the San Jose Earthquakes (7:30 pm ET), the first major sporting event in the city since last weekend’s mass shooting, will remember the victims throughout the matchday at Camping World Stadium.

One of those tributes will be a moment of silence, except it won’t be held at the start of the match. Instead, for the first time in an MLS match the referee will stop play in the 49th minute to honor the 49 individuals who lost their lives.

Among the other initiatives to help support the families of the victims, fans will be able to purchase #OrlandoUnited t-shirts and posters with all proceeds going to the OneOrlando Fund. Fans can also help by donating at OneOrlando.org.

Pregame ceremonies will recognize first responders and emergency personnel and MLS commissioner Don Garber will also be in attendance.

The visiting San Jose Earthquakes will also wear black armbands and Orlando Pride patches and they’ll also enter the field wearing "Orlando Pride" shirts.
