Orlando Citrus Bowl renamed Camping World Stadium

Cyle Larin - Orlando City SC - celebration - Citrus Bowl

Orlando City will no longer be playing at the Citrus Bowl. That because it's getting a new name.

Officials for the stadium that is Orlando City's home venue announced on Tuesday that the Citrus Bowl will now be called Camping World Stadium, named for a retailer of camping equipment.

Orlando City and their women's team the Orlando Pride will play out the rest of the 2016 season at Camping World Stadium while they finish construction on a new soccer-specific stadium. That new 25,500-capacity stadium in downtown Orlando is scheduled to open before the 2017 season.

The new stadium will become the third-largest soccer-specific stadium in MLS, after Orlando increased its planned capacity following a very successful start in the league. With an average home crowd of nearly 33,000 at the Citrus Bowl, the Lions enjoyed the second-highest total attendance in the league in 2015 after the Seattle Sounders and are one of the league's most successful expansion franchises in MLS to date.
