It appears US Soccer is getting ready for a big update.
Late Thursday night, US Soccer tweeted video of their sign in front of US Soccer House in Chicago being removed with the caption "brb" – short for "be right back." At the same time, the federation's crest was removed from US Soccer's website and social media channels.
It all points to what has been rumored for months: the old soccer ball-and-stars crest that has adorned the USA's jerseys since 1995 is out. While fans have been offering their own mock-ups of a new crest design over the years, a brand new, more modern USA crest is expected from US Soccer.
A new logo from US Soccer has been expected since 2014, when the federation reported that it was working on a rebranding, including a new crest.
