CONCACAF Champions League: Tigres midfielder Javier Aquino to miss first leg of CCL quarters vs. Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake’s CONCACAF Champions League hopes were given a bit of a boost on Tuesday, when Tigres announced that midfielder Javier Aquino will miss the first leg of their series on Wednesday due to tendonitis in his leg.

Aquino, 26, has started all seven of Tigres’ Liga MX games this season, scoring two goals, including the equalizer in the club’s 2-2 draw at Queretaro on Sunday. Even without the Mexican international in the lineup, Tigres still have plenty of firepower in star forward Andre-Pierre Gignac, Brazilian attacker Rafael Sobis and Mexican winger Jurgen Damm.

RSL and Tigres will kick off the first leg at 8 pm ET in Monterrey on Wednesday (FS2, SportsNet World). Salt Lake will host the return leg at Rio Tinto Stadium next Wednesday, March 2.
