You must watch Columbus Crew SC players reading “mean tweets” about their new kits

Michael Parkhurst reads mean tweets about Crew SC's kits

Last week Columbus Crew SC unveiled their new “For Columbus” alternate kits, a colorful design inspired by the city's flag. Early opinions on the defending MLS Eastern Conference champions' unique new look ranged widely, to say the least, especially on social media channels where snark and silliness tend to reign supreme.

To Crew SC's credit, they didn't ignore the critics and skeptics – they had some fun with them instead.

Taking a cue from Jimmy Kimmel's recurring “Mean Tweets” skit, Columbus commissioned star players Michael Parkhurst, Wil Trapp, Justin Meram, Ethan Finlay and Gaston Sauro to read some of the harshest kit takes aloud with the cameras rolling.

MLS fans, this is must-see internet.

“People are clever out there,” noted Parkhurst with a chuckle, as he and his teammates reacted to tweets comparing their new uniforms to Skittles candy, unicorn droppings and art made by 3rd graders, among other things.

You're right, Michael. You're absolutely right.
