How WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan inspired Columbus Crew SC's "Yes!" post-game chant

Off the field, Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper Steve Clark likes to keep a low profile and spend time with his wife and dog.

But on the MAPFRE Stadium field, nobody is better at causing uproar in the Nordecke, Crew SC's vocal supporters’ section, than Clark.

His now-hallmark “Yes!” chant is a fan favorite at games, and is causing supporters to stay late to witness the uproar after wins.

Clark has said he respects wrestlers – of both the traditional and on-camera variety – and got his inspiration from WWE’s Daniel Bryan.

The tradition began on the road last year, and has continued all the way through the team’s 2015 playoff run.

“Well, we won at D.C., and out of nowhere we had a small section there at their stadium, and I just did it, and boom! It hit off,” Clark told last year. “Then, we won a whole bunch of games this summer, and we just kept with it. Obviously, it’s picked up now and people seem to love it, which is cool. I think it’s cool for every team to have their own identity, and obviously we’ve created a new one this year. That’s a small part of it, fans seem to love it, and I enjoy leading it. I think it’s a good time all around.”
