The Portland Timbers fell, 1-0, in an afternoon matchup with PDL side FC Tuscon, despite the team Twitter feed reporting "a couple of close chances" in the first 30 minutes of play.

Red Bulls drop doubleheader finale


After a rousing victory in their Sunday opener, the New York Red Bulls' second exhibition of the back-to-back set ended in a 1-0 defeat to Monteverde Academy. The team Twitter feed described a pair of late misses over the bar, either of which could have equalized the score with a more on-target attempt.

Sunday afternoon, the Colorado Rapids announced that Vice President of Soccer Operations and Technical Director Paul Bravo has been officially enshrined in the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.Rapids President Tim Hinchey called it "a well-deserved honor" in a team statement.

Red Bulls trample Armada in Orlando


The Red Bulls opened their doubleheader slate with a 5-2 comeback victory. Down 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half, New York ripped off three unanswered in the final 45 to secure the win. The goals came from Bradley Wright-Phillips (PK), Sacha Kljestan, Mike Grella, Stefano Bonomo (RBNY II) and Connor Lade. 2016 SuperDraft selection Justin Bilyeu nearly added a sixth, but was ruled offside.
