Save of the Week update: Seattle Sounders' Stefan Frei looks like a good bet to win his second straight

MLS Save of the Week: Week 26

Stefan Frei looks like a good bet to make it two in a row.

The Seattle Sounders goalkeeper is in the driver’s seat to win his second straight Save of the Week, with his stop on Portland forward Lucas Melano in his team’s 2-1 win against the Timbers leading the field with 40.8 percent of the vote.

Colorado Rapids ‘keeper Clint Irwin is in second place for his massive double save against Sporting Kansas City with 25.76 percent. Vancouver Whitecaps backstop David Ousted is in third with 18.28 percent of the tally, while the remaining contenders – Orlando City’s Tally Hall (7.58 percent) and Philadelphia Union’s Andre Blake (7.22 percent) – are well off the pace in single digits.

Can Irwin or Ousted make a big late surge? Or will Frei win his second-straight Save of the Week? Vote now – the winner will be announced on Friday.

Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of MLS Save of the Week – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here.
