MLS Save of the Week: Week 26

Can Stefan Frei make it two in a row?

A week after taking home his fourth MLS Save of the Week award of the year, the Sounders goalkeeper has been nominated for the honor once again thanks to a one-on-one stop on Lucas Melano in Seattle’s huge 2-1 win over the rival Portland Timbers on Sunday.

To keep the crown, though, Frei will have to beat out another four-time winner in Vancouver’s David Ousted, who stretched out to parry away a strong attempt form Houston’s Raul Rodriguez on Saturday.

Orlando’s Tally Hall and Philadelphia’s Andre Blake also made diving saves to earn nominations, while Colorado’s Clint Irwin got a nod for a massive double save vs. Sporting Kansas City. All three are looking for their first Save of the Week nod of the season.

Will Frei or Ousted win their fifth Save of the Week award of the season? Or will someone new steal the crown? Vote now for your pick! The winner will be announced Friday.

Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of the MLS Save of the Week award – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here.
