Steve Nash’s famous charity soccer match is never one to disappoint for its star power.

This year is no different, with the Steve Nash Foundation Showdown announcing that the US national team’s Geoff Cameron highlights a list of celebrity athletes who will take part in Wednesday’s fundraiser match at Sara D. Roosevelt Park in New York City. Participants include New Jersey-born star Giuseppe Rossi, who plays internationally for Italy; former NBA All-Star and current St. John’s men's basketball head coach Chris Mullin; and the Miami Heat’s Luol Deng.

“I am excited to have Giuseppe back, as he always brings a great dynamism to the game. His skills are next-level, which definitely adds to the competitiveness,” said Nash, co-owner of the Vancouver Whitecaps and a former NBA star, in a release. “Then to add first-time Showdown players with true NBA and soccer talent to the mix like Luol Deng, Geoff Cameron and Chris Mullin, you know it is going to be a good time. I love how such amazing NBA and soccer talent have continued to embrace this match and our cause more and more each year.”

Showdown, now in its eighth year, is a fast-paced, competitive soccer match featuring NBA and professional soccer players joining forces to support the Steve Nash Foundation’s work to benefit underserved children.

The event starts with a fan event at 4pm ET; the match kicks off at 6:30 pm ET.

The award-winning Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which shares a common ethos with the Steve Nash Foundation around community development and health, will be delivering Showdown’s youth soccer clinic prior to the match with support from Street Soccer USA.
