Montreal Impact waive Kristian Nicht week after CONCACAF Champions League final start

Kristian Nicht's time in Montreal has come to an end. Again.

The Montreal Impact announced on Monday that they have placed goalkeeper Kristian Nicht on waivers. Nicht was signed last week ahead of the club's CONCACAF Champions League finals second leg vs. Club America, and started, went the distance and made two saves in the 4-2 defeat.

"Kristian did well during his short time with us, but he found himself in a position of third or fourth goalkeeper. It would have been difficult for him to get playing time," said technical director Adam Braz in a statement. "This gives him a chance to find another team where he will have a better chance to play."

Prior to signing with Montreal via a full transfer from NASL's Indy Eleven, Nicht had spent two separate loan stints with the Impact earlier this year. The 33-year-old goalkeeper was used as a reserve netminder during the two initial brief spells with the club.

The Impact will play its next game this Wednesday at Stade Saputo against Toronto FC in the first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals.
