New York City is going to be a divided city in 2015: You're either red or blue.
While expansion side New York City FC enters the league with distinctive sky blue kits, the New York Red Bulls will be standing out for their red after the unveiling of their new 2015 primary kits on Tuesday.
There's a whole lot more red on the jersey sleeves compared to recent seasons and there are also a few more prominent mentions of "New York," almost to remind NYCFC which team was here first.
There's a "New York" on the jock tag (lower left corner of the shirt) as well as on the back of the jersey. Last year's primary shirt simply said "Red Bulls" on the back.
And while the Red Bulls may share the name of a city with NYCFC, RBNY's history sets them apart. The club's past will be honored in their new strip via the black-and-red stripes on the inside neck tape which harken back to the colors of the club when it was known as the MetroStars.
As one of the charter members of the league -- the MetroStars debuted in 1996 -- the Red Bulls will also have a "Founding Team" patch on the inside of the jersey behind the crest, as well as an "EST. 1996" on the back neck tape.
The Red Bulls kick off their 2015 season in a nationally televised match on Sunday, March 8 when they travel to face Sporting Kansas City (7 pm ET, Fox Sports 1).
