Seven MLS players have been invited to the first US U-20 camp of 2015, which convened in Sunrise, Florida on Sunday. Head coach Tab Ramos called on 21 players for the camp, and has a provisional roster of 35 from which he will choose 20 for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
Ramos will name his 20-man roster on January 2, and the camp will last until January 5. The US play their first game of the tournament on January 9 in Kingston, Jamaica against Guatemala.
“I am looking forward to our last camp leading into U-20 World Cup qualifying, and there will be some very difficult selections in what we think is a very competitive, deep and united pool of players,” said Ramos in a press release on USsoccer.com. “They have performed well together over the past 18 months.”
The seven MLSers called into camp are New York Red Bulls central defender Matt Miazga; Orlando City right back Tyler Turner; FC Dallas d-mid Kellyn Acosta; Toronto FC midfielder Marco Delgado; Columbus Crew SC attacker Romain Gall; LA Galaxy forward Bradford Jamieson IV; and San Jose Earthquakes playmaker Tommy Thompson.
In addition, defenders Erik Palmer-Brown of Sporting KC and Tommy Redding of Orlando City, as well as midfielder Zach Pfeffer of the Philadelphia Union are on the 35-man squad.
