It would have taken much more than 11 men to stop Melbourne Victory forward Connor Pain from finding the back of the net.
In fact, not even a flock of dozens of seagulls on the field could do the job. Of course, a seagull's soccer IQ probably isn't high enough to thwart much more than a distracted U-6 player.
But let's give the Melbourne attacking players who combined to score a great goal some serious credit here — or perhaps lambast the Wellington Phoenix defense for looking not at all unlike the above mentioned U-6 side.
Regardless, it's probably time for Melbourne to invest in their own eagle or hawk to ward off future field invasions.
