Canadian Exports: Iain Hume stays hot for Kerala Blasters, Andre Hainault and Pedro Pacheco both score

Iain Hume with Preston North End.

Iain Hume remains the only goalscorer in the history of Kerala Blasters FC three weeks into the Indian Super League’s existence.

On Saturday, the veteran striker notched his second goal for Blasters, en route to the club earning its first point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Atletico de Kolkata.

He wasn’t the only Canadian veteran finding the scoresheet this week – both defender Andre Hainault (VfR Aalen) and midfielder Pedro Pacheco (CD Santa Clara) notched their first goals of the season over the weekend.

Meanwhile, youngster Dylan Carreiro kept up his scoring ways for Arbroath, notching his fourth goal in six appearances since joining the Scottish club on loan last month. His tally helped his club record a 5-1 win over Montrose on Saturday.

But it wasn’t all good news for Canadians this time out. David Edgar and his club had a particularly disastrous weekend after he was sent off in just the seventh minute of Birmingham City’s clash with AFC Bournemouth on Saturday and his team – perhaps not coincidentally – slid to a crushing 8-0 defeat. The team now sits 23rd in the 24-team Championship table.

Atiba Hutchinson had another solid week for Besiktas, going the full 90 in both a 4-0 win over Partizan in Europa League play on Thursday and a 3-2 loss to Kayseri Erciyesspor in league play on Monday. Also in Turkey, Tam Nsaliwa went the distance for Bucaspor on Sunday in a 2-2 draw with Adanaspor.

In Germany’s 3. Liga, Randy Edwini-Bonsu’s Stuttgarter Kickers fought to a 2-2 draw with Nik Ledgerwood’s Energie Cottbus on Saturday. REB started for his side, but Ledgerwood wasn’t in the lineup for his. Also in Germany, Daniel Stanese went the full 90 on the backline for FC Augsburg II in a 1-0 loss on Saturday.

In Scotland, Fraser Aird (Rangers) and Luca Gasparotto (Airdrieonians, on loan from Rangers) both went the distance for their respective clubs over the weekend.

And in England, Junior Hoilett (Queens Park Rangers) and Michael Petrasso (Notts County, on loan from QPR) made appearances in victories for their teams. Simeon Jackson also came on as a substitute for Coventry City in a win over Peterborough United on the weekend.

Canada’s unrelated Haber duo – Marcus (Crewe Alexandra) and Daniel (Ayia Napa) – both saw action this week for their clubs, but neither were able to score. Fellow striker Tosaint Ricketts also got onto the pitch, coming on as a second-half sub for Hapoel Haifa on Saturday.

Dejan Jakovic put in 180 minutes of work for Shimizu S-Pulse in a pair of games over the past week.

And up in Finland, a couple of Canadians saw their seasons come to an end – Roger Thompson (IFK Mariehamn) and Charlie Trafford (KuPS) both saw the pitch in their respective teams’ final games of the season.
