LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan laughs about prank calls to Seattle Sounders players

Professional athletes often say they're at their best when they're "feel like a kid out there" playing the game they love.

It makes sense — a happy person off the field makes for a productive player on it. No one understands this better than LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan.

It's the reason he took a self-imposed sabbatical at the start of the 2013 MLS season. It's the reason he surprised everyone and announced his retirement in August, effective at the end of the 2014 season.

So it comes as no surprise to find out that Donovan spent is Thursday afternoon "prank calling" coaches and players from the Seattle Sounders (above video) ahead of Saturday's big Supporters Shield and homefield advantage showdown (2:30 pm ET; NBC in the US, TSN2 in Canada).

Oh, the old "Is your refrigerator running?" joke. It never gets old, does it?
