Last year, as a rookie, Powers was a revelation. This year, he’s a force. He’s been entrusted with the penalty-taking duties, and his production -- 5 goals, 9 assists -- already surpasses his output from last year. On August 20, he became the youngest player in Rapids history to wear the captain’s armband. 

What the technical staffers say: "He's versatile. He does so many things. He can be a box-to-box guy, or if you asked him to, he can sit in front of the back four. He's shown some ability to be a playmaker, so a lot of different qualities."

What Opta Sports says: Ranks second among players under 24 with 2.37 chances created per 90 minutes in MLS this season.
