Geoff Cameron ruled out of US national team for friendly in Czech Republic

The injury that forced Geoff Cameron off the field in the first half of Stoke City's league cup win on Wednesday will now keep him out of the US national team.

Originally called up by US manager Jurgen Klinsmann for Wednesday's friendly against the Czech Republic, Cameron will not travel to Prague to join the training game, US Soccer announced on Sunday.

"Further consultations with the Stoke City medical staff confirmed that Cameron’s injury – suffered in the 37th minute of the match against Portsmouth on Aug. 27 – would prevent him from participating in the game," the federation's release stated.

Cameron, 29, did not appear in Stoke's 1-0 win at Manchester City on Saturday. He has been the subject of many transfer rumors over the past month, but the injury seems to have tamped those down for now.

No replacement will be named to the US squad.

Here is the US updated roster for Czech Republic friendly:

GOALKEEPERS (3): Cody Cropper (Southampton), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
DEFENDERS (6): John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Greg Garza (Club Tijuana), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Michael Orozco (Puebla), Tim Ream (Bolton)
MIDFIELDERS (7): Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Julian Green (Bayern Munich), Emerson Hyndman (Fulham), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt), Brek Shea (Stoke City)
FORWARDS (5): Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Joe Gyau (Borussia Dortmund II), Jordan Morris (Stanford), Rubio Rubin (Utrecht), Bobby Wood (1860 Munich)
