GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Club Tijuana’s band of Americans will have a new manager when they return from the international break after Cesar Farías left the club Saturday by mutual consent.
Venezuelan Farías took over Xolos in December 2013 and guided Club Tijuana to the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League last season, defeating LA Galaxy 4-3 on aggregate in the quarterfinals, before losing to Cruz Azul in the next round.
In Saturday games involving Americans in the Liga MX, Michael Orozco’s Puebla came from behind to defeat Morelia 3-2 in José Luis “Chelís” Sánchez Solá’s first game back in charge of La Franja. Orozco – who will join the United States squad in Europe this week - went the full 90 minutes in defense in the victory for Puebla, which moved Puebla level on points with Chivas in the relegation table.
Also Saturday, Jose Torres came off the bench in the 54th minute in Tigres' 2-0 home loss to Chiapas, for whom Gabriel Farfan wasn’t involved.
In Mexico’s second division, Stevie Rodriguez went 90 minutes in Dorados de Sinaloa’s 1-0 home defeat to Necaxa, while Juan Pablo Ocegueda also completed the full game for Alebrijes de Oaxaca in their 1-1 draw against Zacatepec.
