It's a rite of summer in the USA: beaches, barbecues and English Premier League players playing American sports for the TV cameras.

In one of the most uniquitous PR stunts on the sports scene today -- football vs. futbol is just too tempting -- EPL sides just can't seem to resist trying their hand at field goal kicking when they visit during their preseason in July.

On Friday it was the turn of Tottenham Hotspur, who are in Seattle to play the Sounders at CenturyLink Field on Saturday afternoon (4 pm ET, ESPN2). They took advantage of the stop in the great Northwest to get some pigskin pointers from the Super Bowl champions Seahawks. Because Spurs star Gylfi Sigurdsson clearly needs the tips (WATCH video on Seahawks.com).

But the soccer pros actually don't look that silly running NFL receiver routes. It's the American football players kicking the round ball that ultimately proves to be the kicker of the photo-op. Doing the honors were Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright, wide receiver Doug Baldwin, and kicker Steven Hauschka, whose D-3 college soccer skills came in handy.

“Their kicking is painful to watch,’’ Hauschka told the Seattle Times in reference to his teammates' attempt at futbol.

"It's been a really good morning, I love seeing players from different sports and what they can do as well as learning all about their sport," Wright told Tottenham's official site. "The guys certainly have some NFL skills."

Sure they do.
