All-Star: Caleb Porter reveals 23-man roster for 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game in Portland

The rest of the picks are in, and head coach Caleb Porter has his 23-man squad for the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on August 6 in Portland (9 pm ET | ESPN2, UniMas in the US; TSN/RDS in Canada).

Joining the first 11 All-Stars, the Fan XI, selected by an online fan vote, are 10 picks made by Porter, plus the traditional two selections by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.

Porter, the head coach of the Portland Timbers, used only one of his 10 picks on a Timbers player, captain Will Johnson, while another Timbers member, Diego Valeri, was one of the Commissioner's two picks. The other was Chivas USA forward Erick "Cubo" Torres.

In all, 10 of the 19 MLS teams will be represented in the summer showcase at Providence Park and the Seattle Sounders lead the way with five players after Porter called in Sounders defender Chad Marshall and midfielder Osvaldo Alonso.

Golden Boot leader Bradley Wright-Phillips also got the nod from Porter, and will join New York Red Bulls strike partner Thierry Henry on the team. Other forwards picked by Porter include a pair of English Premier League veterans: Toronto FC’s Jermain Defoe and the LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane.

Midfielder Tim Cahill, also of the New York Red Bulls, will add to the World Cup flavor on the MLS team, having recently returned from a two-goal showing with the Australian national team in Brazil.

On the defensive side of the ball, D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid turned his stellar play so far in 2014 into an All-Star nod, while defenders Aurelien Collin (Sporting Kansas City) and Michael Parkhurst (Columbus Crew), will round out the backline.

Torres, Defoe, Hamid and Wright-Phillips join Fan XI nominees Michael Bradley and Obafemi Martins in receiving their first All-Star nods. Bradley played for AS Roma in last year's All-Star Game.

In addition to the 23-man gameday All-Star roster, there will be nine more players named to an "inactive roster" for the AT&T All-Star Game as per the collective bargaining agreement. Those final names will be revealed on Aug. 6.
