Dig into MLSsoccer.com's archive for the lowdown on the Seattle-Portland rivalry | THE VAULT

Over the years, MLSsoccer.com and our partners have created a ton of content pertaining to the rivalry between the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers. Because, well, it's Seattle-Portland.

From player profiles to celebrations of the supporters, this content has taken you deeper into one of the great rivalries in North American sports. With the Sounders and Timbers set to square off again this weekend (Sunday, 10 pm ET, ESPN2), we thought we'd put it all together. Think of it as your Seattle-Portland encyclopedia.

Clint Dempsey

We'll start with Clint Dempsey. The US national team star, who is expected to play on Sunday, started the season with 8 goals in 9 games before he reported for World Cup duty. Will he pick up where he left off?

Tifo is always one of the most anticipated aspects of a Cascadia Cup match. And although the supporters groups keep their plans top secret, surely, they have something planned for Sunday. Here's an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Timbers Army's tifo last year, made by filmmakers the Barnicle Brothers.

Ozzie Alonso

One of the most crucial members of the Seattle midfield, Ozzie Alonso, got the "MLS Insider" treatment last fall, narrating the dramatic story of his flight from Cuba in search of a better life -- and better soccer -- in the United States.

Will Johnson

Also last fall, writer Jeff Bradley wrote a piece for our "Word" longform series examined the life of Portland captain Will Johnson, from his youth in Chicago to an early stint in Europe, a return Stateside to Real Salt Lake, and eventually landing in the center of the midfield at Providence Park.

Cascadia Cup

Midway through the 2013 season, NBC Sports Network's MLS Insider delved into the passion and pride of the Cascadia Cup (warning: This episode was framed around a Seattle-Vancouver).

Darlington Nagbe

At the start of the 2013 season, NBC Sports Network spent 36 hours with young Timbers star Darlington Nagbe ahead of a match. He was, at that point, beginning his third season and was still a player of potential. But he put up career numbers in 2013 -- 9 goals, 4 assists -- and although he's yet to score this season, he's an integral part of the Timbers' attack.
