GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Morelia overcame Jose Torres’ Tigres 4-1 on Wednesday night in the first leg of the SuperCopa MX, played between the winners of the Apertura and Clausura editions of the previous year's Copa MX.

Torres entered the field in the Estadio Morelos in the 71st minute with his team already 3-1 down and went close to pulling a goal back two minutes later when his left-footed shot from on the edge of the penalty area sailed just past the post.

In the following Morelia attack, Tigres goalkeeper Sergio García let a weak Duvier Riascos shot sneak past him to increase the lead.

Herculez Gomez will have to wait for his official debut for Tigres, with the striker left on the bench and coach Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti only using one substitute.

The winner of the SuperCopa MX represents Liga MX in the 2015 Copa Libertadores, with Morelia now the clear favorite heading into Saturday’s return leg in Monterrey.
