USWNT goalkeeper Hope Solo arrested on two counts of domestic violence

Hope Solo rues a missed chance at Women's World Cup final.

USWNT star goalkeeper Hope Solo was arrested early Saturday morning on two counts of domestic violence assult (4th degree), according to police in Kirkland, Washington.


As first reported in the Seattle Times, Solo alledgedly got into an argument with several family members, including her sister and 17-year-old nephew. When police were called to the scene, they found Solo to be "intoxicated and upset." She had earlier refused to leave the premises.


“There was a big party going on at her house. It was an out-of-control situation,” Kirkland police Lt. Mike Murray told the Times. Murray also said that there were visible injuries on Solo's sister and nephew.


Solo, who has won two gold medals and a World Cup runner-up with the US since 2008, is scheduled to appear in Kirkland Municipal Court on Monday, June 23.
