World Cup: Here's what happened the last time the US national team played Portugal

When the United States national team takes on Portugal on Sunday, it will be only the sixth time the two nations have met on the soccer field.

Contrary to what you might think, the Americans have done relatively well in the five previous meetings.

Going back to their first clash in 1982 – a 1-0 loss in Lisbon – the USMNT has two wins, two losses, and one draw against the Portuguese. And the last time they squared off, in their Group D opener in Suwon, South Korea, at the 2002 World Cup, this it what happened.
