GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Jonathan Bornstein’s future remains south of the border, with Liga MX announcing via Twitter on Wednesday that the 29-year-old has been loaned out from Tigres UANL to Querétaro for next season.
The left back spent last season on loan at relegated Atlante, but featured mainly in the Copa MX.
The former Chivas USA player and 2006 MLS Rookie of the year’s new club – where former Vancouver Whitecaps favorite Camilo Sanvezzo still plays – was officially bought by Grupo Imagen last week. The Mexican government had been in charge since March, when previous owner Amado Yañez faced accusations of widespread financial irregularities in his business dealings.
Bornstein moved to Tigres at the end of the 2010 MLS season, but struggled for minutes at the Monterrey outfit.
In other draft news, Michael Orozco will remain at Puebla next season, loaned from parent club Chiapas. La Franja did announce one year ago that the club had bought the American outright.
