AMSTERDAM – Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have re-captured US defender Timothy Chandler from relegated FC Nürnberg.

The 24-year-old moves on a free transfer after inking a three-year deal on Tuesday. Chandler, a Frankfurt native, avoids the drop with FCN by returning to his first pro club, where he spent much of his youth career.

"We are delighted that the transfer worked," Eintracht sport director Bruno Hübner told the official club website. "It's nice that Chandler returns to Frankfurt. We wish him much success with the US national team in Brazil."

Chandler, currently battling for a starting spot in Jurgen Klinsmann's World Cup squad, notched four goals and 10 assists in 102 matches across all competitions in his four campaigns with Nürnberg.

The right-sider never made a first team appearance in his previous stint with Eintracht, but did post eight goals and seven assists in 50 reserve games as a winger.
