The English season has barely wrapped up and the rumors are already flying.
A report in England's Daily Mail claims that Chelsea and England veteran midfielder Frank Lampard is in the LA Galaxy's crosshairs in the coming offseason. The EPL campaign concluded on Sunday with the soon-to-be 36-year-old Lampard logging action in a total of 47 matches in all competitions for Jose Mourinho's club.
The article, which recaps several potential offseason moves, says that the England international midfielder "has been offered a two-year deal to move to LA Galaxy but he wants a new one-year deal with Chelsea."
The LA Galaxy did not have any comment on the report when contacted by MLSsoccer.com on Sunday.
The rumors linking Lampard to the Galaxy date back two years and they ratcheted up when he made a surprise appearance at a Galaxy match weeks before playing the MLS All-Star Game in 2012 with Chelsea.
Many thought it was a foregone conclusion that Lampard would be heading to MLS in the summer of 2013, but he signed a one-year deal with Chelsea. That contract expires this summer.
