FC Dallas shoot down report claiming Mauro Diaz will miss rest of season with a knee injury

An FC Dallas representative shot down a Friday morning report that playmaking midfielder Mauro Díaz is out for the season with a knee injury.

Díaz picked up a knock to his right knee in last weekend's 4-1 loss to D.C. United at RFK Stadium, where he scored on a play that earned consideration for the AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 8. The Argentine youngster came out of the match just before halftime.

The club confirmed to MLSsoccer.com on Friday morning that he was rested for its only two practice sessions this week and is undergoing further evaluations. He is officially listed as day-to-day by the club and FC Dallas say that manager Oscar Pareja has not ruled him out from participating in Sunday's home game vs. New York Red Bulls (3 pm ET, UniMas).

The Díaz news first surfaced in a tweet by local Al Día sports editor Silvana Pagliuca, who wrote the following in Spanish: "A source told me that Mauro Díaz will be operated on his meniscus. Out for the rest of the season with FC Dallas. The club is yet to confirm."
