Jose Torres celebrates a goal for Tigres

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Tigres UANL continued their Copa MX march on Tuesday as they dispatched Veracruz 3-0 to secure a place in the tournament final, with US international Jose Torres going 64 minutes of the semifinal.

Playing in central midfield, Torres helped his side dominate the match as Tigres went up 2-0 in the first 12 minutes and added the third in the 60th. He drew a yellow card from Veracruz’s Luis Martínez in the 29th and shot over the bar in the 54th as Tigres continued their excellent Copa MX form.

So far this year, Tigres have outscored opponents 29-2 in eight Copa MX matches, including a 6-0 quarterfinal win over Atlante, and the 26-year-old Torres has started six of those eight. Tigres will face Ascenso MX club Oaxaca, a 3-2 winner over Pachuca in the other semifinal, in the championship game. The exact date has not yet been set, but it is expected to be within the next two weeks.
