POSTPONED: Heavy snowfall pushes Montreal Impact home opener vs. Seattle Sounders back to Sunday

The brutal winter that's pelted most of North America for the last three months doesn't quite want to loosen its grip on Montreal despite the fact that spring is -- in theory -- here.

With heavy snowfall and frigid temperatures in the offing for Saturday's Impact home opener against the Seattle Sounders, the team and league announced Friday that they would move the game back 24 hours to Sunday, March 23 (4 pm ET; RDS in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US).

A press release cited a series of factors relating to the amount of snow accumulation on the roof of Olympic Stadium that led to the decision to postpone the game.

Montreal have started off the season winless, dropping a pair of road contests to FC Dallas and Houston. The Sounders, meanwhile, will be looking to recover from last week's 2-1 home defeat to Toronto FC.

All tickets dated March 22 will be valid for March 23 at 4 pm ET, including all season ticket holders.
