AMSTERDAM – Oguchi Onyewu continued to resurrect his form on Monday, punctuating a fine English Championship display with an assist as his Sheffield Wednesday team strolled to a 3-0 home triumph over recent employers Queens Park Rangers.

In a match ruled by the Owls after QPR had Richard Dunne sent off in the 35th minute, the US defender notched a game-best nine clearances to help the hosts to their fourth shutout in his nine starts. In addition, Onyewu highlighted an especially strong night on the ball with his second assist for Wednesday just after the break.

The 31-year-old, who was released by QPR earlier this season, started the 52nd minute play by rambling up the gut on the dribble. Onyewu then fed Leon Best, who turned his man to fire home the second goal of the night.

The win, Wednesday's third in a row at home, hoisted them 13 points above the drop zone into 14th place. The club – next to last when Onyewu signed – is now 5-2-2 when the American starts.
