It didn't take Jermain Defoe long to open his account.

The England international gave Toronto FC a 1-0 lead on 17 minutes, then added his second in the 24th as the Reds put the Seattle Sounders in a 2-0 hole at CenturyLink Field.

Not to be outdone, Clint Dempsey added a consolation goal for Seattle in the second half.
