American Exports: Knock sustained in USMNT cameo puts Daniel Williams in doubt for Reading

Danny Williams, US national team (Feb. 6, 2013)

AMSTERDAM – Reading are unsure whether Daniel Williams will be fit in time for Saturday's key visit from fellow promotion chasers Derby County.

The midfielder returned from a US national team substitute outing in last week's loss to Ukraine in Cyprus with a knee knock, which then forced him to miss Tuesday night's win at Leeds United.

"Manager Nigel Adkins said Danny Williams didn't get back until Friday from international duty and has a swollen knee," Royals press officer Craig Mortimer-Zhika told MLSsoccer.com, relaying the boss' comments to reporters following the 4-2 road win. "At the moment, it's too early to say whether he will be available for Saturday."

Williams has two goals and two assists in 25 Championship contests since arriving from Hoffenheim during last summer's transfer window. The 25-year-old stands second among Reading regulars in both passing percentage and tackles per game this season.
