2014 MLS Managers Survey: Who will come away with the MVP and Golden Boot awards?

2014 Managers Survey

Prior to opening day, MLSsoccer.com polled the head coaches of each MLS club, who were provided with an anonymous survey featuring an array of questions that many fans have always wanted to ask about the upcoming season.
This week, we’ll tell you how they answered (13 of 19 managers completed the survey). Here’s a roundup of the first installment of responses, which includes the managers' picks for MVP and the Golden Boot.

Excluding your players, who's your preseason pick to win the 2014 MLS MVP award?
Fifty-four percent of the managers were on the same page here with
Robbie Keane
coming out on top. The Irishman has been one of the top players in MLS the past couple of seasons and the managers feel this is the season he comes out with the top individual award.

This offseason’s biggest acquisition, Michael Bradley, received 23 percent of the vote and last year’s MLS Newcomer of the Year, Diego Valeri, was the only other player to receive a vote. One manager decided to abstain from voting, saying it was too early in the season to give an answer.

Excluding your own players, who will be the Golden Boot winner in MLS in 2014?

The newly crowned International Player of the Year for Ireland in 2013 also received the plurality of the votes from managers when asked who they thought would win the Golden Boot. Keane received six of the 13 votes cast.

Four other players received votes with Chris Wondolowski and former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe each collecting two votes. Will Bruin, Eddie Johnson, and Marco Di Vaio also received votes.
