GUADALAJARA, Mexico – DaMarcus Beasley was forced off the field with a foot injury on Sunday, as Puebla slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Chivas at Estadio Cuauhtémoc.
Beasley had been quiet at left wing back and was subbed out in the 74th minute after Nestor Vidrio went into a tackle slightly high and accidently stamped on the American’s foot, although the 31-year-old didn’t need assistance as he limped off the field.
Michael Orozco completed the full game for Puebla, alternating between the right and left side of the three central defenders, but La Franja were lethargic going forward in a dour game with few real scoring opportunities.
Puebla remain outside the playoff places with the loss, having won just one of their six league games this season.
On Saturday evening, Jose Torres was left on the bench as winless Tigres UANL drew 1-1 with Santos Laguna, while Chiapas newcomer Gabriel Farfan was not in his club’s matchday squad for Sunday’s 2-0 loss at Toluca.
Fellow Liga MX newcomers Jose Villarreal and Michael Farfan both featured for Cruz Azul’s U-20 side, who lost 3-1 to Atlante on Sunday, with Villarreal going 71 minutes and Farfan 81.
In the Ascenso MX, Jesús Padilla completed the full game for Ballenas Galeana as they drew Universidad de Guadalajara 1-1 on Saturday.
