It’s probably safe to say that Michael Petrasso’s time in League One did him some good.
Fresh off a two-month loan at Oldham Athletic, the 18-year-old returned to Queens Park Rangers’ U-21 side on Saturday and scored both goals in a 2-2 draw with Cardiff. His Canadian teammate, Dylan Carreiro, came in as a late-game substitute in QPR’s first match under caretaker manager Steve Gallen.
Canadian fans will surely be hoping that a loan spell will provide a similar boost to Lucas Cavallini, who recently made a move in Uruguay, joining Centro Atlético Fénix on loan from Nacional. The 21-year-old made his first start on Sunday against El Tanque Sisley, going 62 minutes and picking up a yellow card in a 2-1 Fénix win.
Samuel Piette finally got back into league action for Fortuna Dusseldorf II after an extended winter break. He played the full 90 in a 0-0 draw with Lippstadt 88 on Saturday.
Elsewhere in Germany, Nik Ledgerwood played his second match for MSV Duisburg since coming over from Hammarby in Sweden, going 68 minutes in a 2-1 win over RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Randy Edwini-Bonsu is also settling in at his new German club, Stuttgarter Kickers. He came on as a second-half sub in the team’s 2-1 win over Elversberg on Saturday.
Over in Turkey, Atiba Hutchinson went the full 90 for Besiktas in a 3-2 win over Erciyesspor on Friday, while Tosaint Ricketts went the distance for Bucaspor in a 1-0 win against Fethiyespor on Sunday. Neither found the score sheet, but within the context of being a Canadian international, playing a full match is never something to sneeze at.
Back over in England, Iain Hume came on as a late sub in Preston North End’s 2-0 victory against Notts County on Saturday. Simeon Jacksoncompleted a move that will see him with Millwall until season’s end, in the hopes of keeping the relegation-threatened squad in the Championship.
