AMSTERDAM – Hannover 96 are hoping Steve Cherundolo can beat some nagging knee pains to make his return to full training on Monday.

The Reds captain missed his second straight game on Saturday after suffering a setback with the left knee that has troubled him through three surgeries since last spring. Cherundolo has spent the last 10 days working out to the side.

"He passed the training sessions with the team in this week," Hannover press officer Alex Jacob told MLSsoccer.com. "We will see if it's possible [for him] to come back next week."

The 34-year-old US right back has been limited to just two Bundesliga appearances this season, his 15th with Die Roten. Hannover stood 11th in the table at the start of Saturday's home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
