After his 2014 option wasn't picked up by the Seattle Sounders, goalkeeper Michael Gspurning has signed with a new team in a familiar league.

The 2012 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year finalist tweeted Monday he was signing a deal with Greek Superleague team PAOK:

According to an article on PAOK's website, Gspurning signed a deal through the end of the current season, with a two-year option.

The move represents a return for the 32-year-old to Greece. Prior to joining the Sounders in 2012, the Austrian played for Skoda Xanthi from 2007-12.

As a result of Gspurning's departure, Seattle traded for former Toronto FC starting goalkeeper Stefan Frei in the offseason, and he will compete with Marcus Hahnemann for the starting spot in 2014.
