GUADALAJARA, Mexico – US internationals DaMarcus Beasley and Michael Orozco both went 90 minutes as Puebla let a 2-0 halftime lead slip to lose 3-2 to Chiapas at Estadio Cuauhtémoc on Sunday.
Beasley (above) was relatively quiet in the left wing back role, getting caught with a late challenge by Lucas Viatri in the 37th minute that appeared to seriously hurt the former Chicago Fire player, but he was able to complete the game.
Orozco played on the left of Puebla’s three center backs, picking up a yellow card at the hour mark for talking back to the ref.
La Franja are yet to win in their first four matches in the Liga MX’s Clausura and sit in 14th position.
Things weren’t any better on Saturday for Jose Torres and Tigres UANL, who fell 2-1 at home to drop into last place in the league.
Torres came off the bench just before halftime -- with his team already down to ten players – and featured in the holding midfield role, but was hauled off in the 84th after clashing with Pumas UNAM’s Leandro Augusto.
Both Jose Villarreal and Michael Farfan were missing for leaders Cruz Azul for their 4-0 win on Saturday over Veracruz.
