Lars Frederiksen, guitarist and vocalist for The Old Firm Casuals (you may also know him from his work with the punk rock band Rancid), says that "MLS is like punk rock."
Furthermore, the longtime San Jose Earthquakes fan says that his squad is the "punkest" team in the league.
And you know what? He's kind of right.
How much of that will continue to show through in the team's on-field play under new head coach Mark Watson remains to be seen, but "punk rock" would be one fitting way to describe the "Goonies never say die" mantra of the Quakes' 2012 and 2013 teams.

Off the field, though, the club is about to turn its punkness up a notch.
Frederiksen, along with a handful of current and former Quakes players singing backup, recently recorded the club's new official theme song. The song, titled, "Never Say Die," will be performed live for the first time as part of the Quakes' rebranding party festivities on Jan. 30.
The rebranding party will, of course, also feature the unveiling of the Quakes' brand new club logo and kits for the 2014 season.
Rancid also boasts of one other hardcore MLS fan — drummer Branden Steineckert supports Real Salt Lake and teamed up with the club in 2012 to record the official Rio Tinto Stadium pre-game RSL anthem.
This year's Rancid Derby matches will take place on Mar. 15, Aug. 30 and Oct. 11.
