GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Paul Arriola issued a reminder Tuesday that he might warrant more minutes in the Liga MX for Club Tijuana, scoring his second goal in two Copa MX games for Xolos’ sister club Dorados de Sinaloa.
Arriola netted his side’s second goal in the 42nd minute, slotting home a left-footed shot from a low right wing cross in the 3-1 home victory over Estudiantes Tecos. He also scored last week in another 3-1 Copa MX triumph over Estudiantes Tecos.
The 18-year-old Arriola was dropped down from Xolos for the Copa MX Group 6 games the last two weeks due to Tijuana not being involved in the cup competition. Xolos are not partaking in the tournament because of their CONCACAF Champions League commitments.
Alejandro Guido was also involved for Dorados, coming on in the 76th as the Sinaloa team held onto first place in the group after two games.
DaMarcus Beasley got a rare cup outing for Puebla, going the full 90 in a defensive role on the left flank in their 1-0 win over Correcaminos in the Estadio Cuauhtémoc. The US international put in a dangerous cross in the 73rd, with the subsequent header from Juan Carlos de la Barrera forcing a solid save from Chilean goalkeeper Miguel Pinto.
Puebla are in third after its two games, behind both Tigres UANL and Correcaminos.
For Lobos BUAP, Daniel Cuevas made his second professional appearance in their 0-0 tie at Veracruz, coming off the bench in the 68th.
