Rumor Central: Toronto FC set to acquire English right back Bradley Orr?

After shoring up the attack with the acquisitions of designated players Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley and Gilberto, Toronto FC may be looking overseas for some defensive help, too.

According to the BBC, the Reds are lining up the acquisition of English right back Bradley Orr, a former teammate of TFC head coach Ryan Nelsen's at Blackburn Rovers.

The report claims that the 31-year-old Orr would arrive on a year-long loan through December 2014 with a view to a permanent switch.

Toronto FC have yet to respond to a request for comment from MLSsoccer.com.

Orr has played for several clubs in England, including Newcastle, Burnley, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers, helping QPR earn promotion to the EPL. Blackburn Rovers then acquired him in the winter transfer window of January 2012, before in turn sending him on loan to Ipswich Town and most recently to Blackpool (see photo above).

The Blackpool loan reportedly expired on January 2, making Orr availble for another move.

Toronto FC's official roster currently lists three right backs on the squad going into 2014: Richard Eckersley, Mark Bloom and Ryan Richter. However, Nelsen recently told Toronto media that Eckersley, who started 16 MLS matches last year, will not be returning.
