GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Jonathan Bornstein wants to recapture the form of his days with Chivas USA, and he may now get the opportunity to do so.
Following his move from Tigres UANL to Atlante, the 29-year-old has been getting minutes in his natural left back position this preseason and all signs indicate Bornstein will debut for Los Potros this Sunday in Cancún against Club León.
After three years at Tigres with little playing time, on the field is very much where he wants to be.
“I want to play, that is why I asked Tigres to come here,” Bornstein told Atlante’s official website. “I’m really very excited and anxious to start the season.”
The MLS 2006 Rookie of the Year is also keen to prove himself in Liga MX after his unsuccessful spell at Tigres and also has one eye on Jurgen Klinsmann’s US national team.
”I’ve got to get back the form I showed in MLS and with my national team in the 2010 World Cup,” said Bornstein. “I hope Atlante can be a platform to be able to once again be considered for the national team.”
